Mahmoud Hussein received his BSC
(Excellent with honor degree), and Master Degree in Computer Science from Menofyia University, Faculty of Computers and Information
in May 2006, and May 2009 respectively.
Prior to joining Swinburne as a PhD
candidate, Hussein was a research assistant in
the Faculty of Computers and Information, Menofyia
University from December 2006 to August 2009.
Research Topic: Integrated Modeling of Context-Aware Adaptive
Software Systems
Abstract: Research in systems that adapt
itself to changes in user needs and its operational environment has been
conducted by researchers from two communities with two different emphases:
self-adaptivity and context awareness. Self-adaptivity has been proposed to
reduce the complexity associated with the management of large scale software
systems. It provides the ability for the software to adapt itself at runtime
with changes in its environment and user needs, without specifying how its
environment is represented and processed. On the other hand, context awareness
shares the same goal with self-adaptivity. It is concerned with modeling the
system environment, without specifying how the system responses to its
environment changes. In fact, real world systems such as vehicle systems need
to deal with both aspects. This research aims to investigate the issues of
integrating the context awareness and self-adaptivity aspects in developing
context-aware adaptive software systems. (Thesis
